Last week was the Umbrella Music Festival in Chicago, five nights of excellent jazz and improvised music. Mike Reed is a drummer and organizer for Umbrella Music, which puts on excellent shows year round. His own Loose Assembly's number, The Speed of Change, is an excellent example of their programming and why I get excited every year for their festival.
