Move by Sol Seppy

Move is a brilliant mess of distorted guitars and vocals mixed with clear electronic beats and beautiful singing, masterfully orchestrated.

So Much Drama In The PhD by Monzy

Some time ago, Stanford CS PhD student Monzy decided to start a rap rivalry with fellow CS PhD student MC Plus+. The result? Incredible Drama and some insanely funny computer science jokes.

Lollipopsichord by The Octopus Project

Lollipopsichord is an profoundly delightful name to give a song. And that delightful name goes with a delightfully weird song!

Shut Up, Fucker by Brother Machine

So sometimes I manage to fuck up and post the same song twice. I go back in the archives and change the song I posted twice to something I like ok by the same artist, but maybe not enough to ever post it. This time, Brother Machine's Shut Up, Fucker is my make up tune. It's pretty good, but you may find the chorus a little too grating.

Can't Take Our Love Away by Josh Woodward

Josh Woodward goes for the frustration and defiance felt by unconventional couples who find themselves in hostile environments. When people call you freaks and pass laws against what you do, you find solidarity and show that they can't take your love away.

Bitter Orange by State Shirt

Bitter Orange starts with a moody intro with something of a hip-hop vibe. State Shirt gives us a lot of what you might be used to from him for the meat of the song: his crooning singing over a quirky pop mix. The whole affair sounds pretty interesting, and it won him a song fight.

Save New Orleans by Eight Legged Oedipus

What better way to mourn Hurricane Katrina than 8-bit samples that sound like they're straight out of Mega Man? Someone's gotta Save New Orleans.

Let Me In by Abominominous

Songs about zombies have a good track record in the Nur Ein competition. Let Me In has a fat blues vibe that perfect for bewailing your zombie woes.

Veryfresh by Ghetto Pony

Ghetto Pony has a way of making weird music. Even a song that has more typical singing and chord progressions has to have a sudden stop and a strange noise interlude to make sure it stays veryfresh

Boy Soprano by Xiu Xiu

You either love or hate Xiu Xiu, but you're not likely to be bored by them. Boy Soprano is typically disturbing, but more catchy and less abrasive than some of their other work.

If you like the song, you might also enjoy the 16-bit video that accompanies it.

Pointless by Daniele Torelli

There's some beautiful piano sequences shifting towards electronic notes and back to a piano again, but the real selling point of Pointless is the clicking percussion sounds. And remember, ogg sounds better.

Lion's Mane by Iron and Wine

Iron and Wine seem to have two distinct styles: the layered orchestration of their more recent albums, and the simple, straightforward, 4-track mixed songs like Lion's Mane. I find myself getting tired of either style before a whole album has a chance to pass, but mixing in a few of the older songs with the newer stuff produces a wonderful listening experience.

Shades of Black by Glenn Case

Glenn Case has a ton of songs to listen to. The one that really stands out for me is Shades of Black, which is based on a game about a ghost who doesn't know who he is or why he's haunting his town.

Afterwards by Lucky 7s

Afterwards is a slow building, moody piece of jazz. Like most Lukcy 7s tunes, the trombone playing is excellent and the vibraphone adds a distinctive mood.

Miss Information by Shael Riley featuring Beefy

The line "take it back like Link boomeranging an Octorok" would make Miss Information a must listen all by itself. But the song also has some hooks, and no small number of lies about nerdy rappers.

Other Places I Have Lived by Hostess Mostess

The very first line of Other Places I Have Lived had me. The intimate vocals just push my buttons, and the chorus can't help but be a minor let down from there. But the sining in the bridge is brilliant in opposite direction. One of the best from Hostess Mostess.

Fuzzy Logic by Puce

15-16 Puzzle wrote a nerdy little song about fuzzy logic. When a bunch of songfighters got together to tribute him, Puce took the opportunity to show off his beat-boxing and rock that song up a bit.
