Dreaming by Uncle Owen Aunt Beru

Dreaming is short and noisy, with a lo-fi recording and simple, not always quite in tune singing.

Enjoy it in ogg vorbis as well.

Encoded Designs by Revolution Void

I don't know what to say about Encoded Designs. It covers a ton of ground in it's 7 minutes. If you like it, you'll probably find the rest of Thread Soul worth downloading too.

It can also be had in vorbis format.

Under The Stairs by Josh Woodward

Under the Stairs is a lesson in simple songwriting done well. It tells a straightforward story with low strings subtly offsetting the guitar.

Please Stop by Christopher Cogott

A ridiculously bouncy and exuberant rock song may not be what you expect from Please Stop, but Christopher Cogott manages to say he never wants to see you again with just that kind of joy.

Cornershop by Podington Bear

Cornershop offers those playful layers of instruments you've come to expect from Podington Bear. And the Creative Commons license on all Pod Bear tunes means you're free to use it for any non-commercial purpose you care to put it to, as long as you give him credit. How lovely for you and me.

Momma's Boy by Elizabeth And The Catapult

Nobody wants a Momma's Boy, especially not Elizabeth and the Catapult. The song "slips from folk to Jon Brion pop to vaudeville and back", in Aurgasm's words. I could not be more overjoyed.

Now We Know (alternate version) by Jeff Hanson

The attempted character assassination in Now We Know isn't for everybody, but if you can get past that, there's a pretty guitar song sung by a man with a lovely lady's voice.

Thus Always Horses by Tiny Folk

I'm not one of those people who just can't get enough auto-tuned robot voices. But Thus Always Horses uses the effect more effectively than most. It adds a weird warble to a strange plodding tune with lyrics invoking animals and computers and Y2K.

A & A by Lonbobby

One of the strangest songfight titles I've seen in my time is A & A, which Songfight's resident electronic music expert Lonbobby turned into a win.

Work Out Fine by Brad Sucks

A very un-Brad Sucks like sentiment: everything's going to Work Out Fine. Indeed it has.

Robot Ninja Zombie Bear by State Shirt

Mao Tse Tong by Her Highness

Mao Tse Tong is almost too weird to describe. Something that sounds like a cheap cell ring tone starts the song. Then a higher tone harmonizes with it. These various high electronic loops jump in and out while a female chatters incoherently. It's a bizarre experience.

The experience is available in vorbis.

The Malice Of Time (Game Uber Edit) by Ninja 9000

Ugress's 8bit alter ego Ninja 9000 has nine atmospheric, dancy, nostalgia inducing electronic tracks. The Malice of Time (Game Uber Edit) from the Bit Collapse EP is more atmospheric than danceable, but it's strong beat still gets heads bopping.

Baiser Salé by DobaCaracol

Afrobeat rhythms of Baiser Salé mix with French lyrics and a lush arrangement and production to create enveloping pop with a touch of the exotic.

The Spirit World by The Sober Irishman

The melody of "The walls, tumbling down, like Jericho" in The Spirit World always remind me of Exit Music (For a Film). This song is suitably epic.

Ease Your Storm by The New Original Titans Of Songfight

"The New Original Titans of Songfight" is quite an apt name. They are a fine collaboration of some of the oldest of old school Songfighters, and Ease Your Storm won last week's fight with ease.

Sticks and Stones by ADD

One thing I love about Sticks and Stones is the acoustic guitar playing over the repetitive electric guitar and the bass. It's catching, interesting, changing. It's not a display of mindblowing technical skill, it's simpler and even better than that. It's exactly what the song needs.

Rejuvenation by Abstract Rude

I got to see Abstract Rude open for Busdriver the last time he was in Chicago and I was glad I did. He had a tight set of excellent hip-hop like Rejuvenation.

Diamonds On My Belly by Hafdis Huld

Hafdis Huld has a lovely array of electronic sounds and her own girly voice at the center of her pop songs, but probably the most interesting part of her songs is her banjo. It doesn't call attention to itself, but it's there, adding something a little unexpected to songs like Diamonds on My Belly.

About To Walk by Throw Me The Statue

About to Walk is just about everything I like in a pop song. It's full of earworms but has a bit of a weird personality, with strange samples and an electronic buzz.
